Entenrennen 2026: Our ducks are back on the Danube!
The wait was finally over: on Saturday 25 July 2026, it was time once again for our newly kitted-out racing ducks to take to the water. Together with a huge flock of squeaky ducks, they plunged into the waters of the Danube to give their all for a good cause.
At this year’s Schanzer Entenrennen, our five sponsor ducks gave it their all. Even though they didn’t quite make it onto the podium this time, we’re proud of their performance: our frontrunner secured an impressive 68th place out of a total of 239 sponsor ducks.
Once again this year, the lively Festival of Cultures in Klenzepark, Ingolstadt, provided the perfect backdrop. The field of competitors was impressive: alongside 239 large sponsor ducks, around 4,000 small squeaky ducks vied for victory. Another visual highlight was the ‘country ducks’, which had been creatively and individually designed by the nations taking part in the festival.
Team DONAT IT: Fully committed to the region
The starting signal for the sponsored ducks was given right on time at 5 pm at the Konrad-Adenauer Bridge. From a boat, they were released straight into the current of the Danube, heading towards the Donaubühne. Thanks to the support of the THW, which secured the race course, none of the participants strayed off course for any length of time.

Good to know: sustainability meets tradition
The charity run by the Lions Club “Auf der Schanz” in Ingolstadt has been organising this event since 2014, and it continues to delight people in the region year after year. Over the course of the club’s 13-year history, the event has raised enormous sums for good causes. To protect the environment and reduce plastic waste, the Lions Club enters the same ducks into the race every year. This is a particularly sustainable approach.
After this exciting day, our yellow-clad athletes are now heading off on their well-deserved summer holidays. Training for the next season will start soon – we’re already looking forward to next year’s race!
