Schanzer Entenrennen 2025
Our ducks also took to the starting line again on Saturday 26 July 2025. Alongside numerous other squeaky ducks, they plunged into the Danube and swam in a race for a good cause.
Our five sponsor ducks gave their all at the Schanzer Duck Race last Saturday. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to win this year. However, our best duck still achieved a respectable 58th place out of around 235 sponsored ducks. Four of our five ducks made it to the finish line, as one duck escaped and probably wanted to flee on its summer holiday.
The Schanzer Duck Race took place again this year as part of the Festival of Cultures in Klenzepark Ingolstadt. A total of 235 sponsor ducks and around 3,000 little yellow squeaky ducks swam for the best places. The country ducks also competed again. These were specially designed by all participating nations at the Festival of Cultures.

Collecting for a good cause
The sponsored duck race started at 5 p.m. at the Konrad Adenauer Bridge: The ducks entered the water from a boat and raced to the Danube stage. The THW ensured that all the ducks reached the finish line safely and that none got lost. The race results of the sponsored ducks can be read here.
This time, the proceeds from the participation fees and sponsorship amounts went to the art centre ‘Besondere Blickwinkel’ (Special Perspectives), the Ingolstadt Animal Welfare Association and the Johann Nepomuk von Kurz School.
Interesting facts about the duck race
Since 2014, the Lions Club ‘Auf der Schanz’ Ingolstadt has been organising the duck race, which is very popular with young and old alike. The proceeds are donated to regional aid organisations every year. In total, more than 158,000 euros have been raised so far. In addition, the same ducks are used for every race to avoid plastic waste.
Our ducks are now going on a well-deserved summer break and will then start training for the coming year straight away. We are already looking forward to it!
